Wiggins arrived on campus Tuesday morning to begin his official visit, which will last approximately three days.
The visit will play a key part in Florida State's chances of landing what would be the biggest commitment in Florida State basketball history.
While the football team is regularly in battles for some of the nation's top prospects year in and year out, the basketball program simply isn't on that level. Yet.
Wiggins having FSU in his final two says a lot about where the program has come under Leonard Hamilton, but if the Seminoles could pull this off there would be a dramatic change in the way Hamilton's program is perceived on the national stage.
You might think that's a bit of an overstatement, but there's no doubt that Wiggins would make the Seminoles an automatic national title threat. He's that good.
Wiggins teammate and current FSU commitment Xavier Rathan-Mayes has been lobbying for quite some time trying to get Wiggins to join him in Tallahassee next season. Last night Rathan-Mayes tweeted that he will be joining Wiggins on his visit Wednesday night for the Florida-Florida State game and then proceeded to get the hashtag #GetWiggins trending in Tallahassee.
I expect a packed house for the game and, for some reason , I also see FSU playing the Gators very tough in this one. For every growing pain the Seminoles will go through this season, the talent is there, and they will also have plenty of moments showing their true potential for the coming seasons.
As Wiggins understands how young the FSU team is, he also knows the kind of talent that he will be surrounded by if he chooses to attend FSU. That said, the result of the game will not have as much of an impact on his decision as the environment will, in my opinion.
