Never Happened Pryor to That
Lonnie Pryor staked FSU to a 7-0 lead on a career-long 60-yard touchdown run. The senior fullback had never had a run longer that 49 yards coming into tonight's Discover Orange Bowl. The touchdown moved Pryor into 10th place for rushing scores with 17 in his career. It was the second-longest TD run ever by and FSU player in a bowl game.
Smith Streaks to Record
Senior wide receiver Rodney Smith didn't wait long to set a new FSU record. With is first quarter reception, Smith secured a catch in his 39th straight game breaking the FSU record set by E.G. Green from 1994-97
The team that leads at halftime has won each of the last eight Orange Bowls. The last team to rally from a halftime deficit was Miami which trailed FSU 14-13 in the 2004 Orange Bowl.
First half featured 9 total punts which ties for the most in the first half since 2003 when FSU faced Penn State.
Florida State's 328 total yards of offense is the fourth most in an Orange Bowl in the BCS era. But, despite all the yards gained by the offense, the Seminoles have just a 14-3 lead.
