Wake Forest Defeats FSU

The Florida State men's basketball team drops to .500 in ACC-play with eight games remaining in the regular season.

Hoping to build on one of it's best performances this season, Florida State traveled to Wake Forest Saturday but yet again returned to the up-and-down fashion they have shown all season.

Travis McKie tallied 15 points and six rebounds to lead the Wake Forest Demon Deacons to a 71-46 rout over the Florida State Seminoles in Atlantic Coast Conference action at the Tucker Center.

Codi Miller-McIntyre and C.J. Harris had 14 points apiece for the Demon Deacons (11-12, 4-7 ACC), who entered the day with losses in six of their previous seven outings. Chase Fischer chipped in with 10 points and two steals off the bench in the victory.

Okaro White and Michael Snaer each scored 13 points to lead the Seminoles (13-10, 5-5).

The Demon Deacons never trailed in the contest. They jumped out to an early 7-2 lead and then used a 6-0 spurt to go up, 23-12, on Arnaud William Adala Moto's layup with 7:22 remaining in the half. Wake Forest went into the break leading, 34-26.

The Demon Deacons opened the second half with a 10-3 run to stretch their lead to 15, and they maintained a double-digit cushion the rest of the way. FSU made only 6-of-24 field goals over the final 20 minutes.

After allowing their previous five opponents to average 83 points per game, the Demon Deacons put the clamps down defensively and held FSU to 32.6-percent shooting for the game. WF also held a commanding 45-25 rebounding advantage.
