Jackson 'a bit confused' by what he saw

2014 Gardena (Calif.) Serra five-star product Adoree Jackson caught the game winning touchdown in his team's comeback win over Notre Dame on Friday night. He then spoke with FOX Sports' SCPlaybook about where USC stands in his recruitment since watching the Trojans fall to Washington State.

2014 Gardena (Calif.) Serra cornerback Adoree Jackson isn't quite sure what to think.

He was inside the L.A. Coliseum to hear the boos and chants when USC opened Pac-12 conference play hosting Washington State. He saw the plays the Trojans ran. Then he saw 2012 Biletnikoff Award winner Marqise Lee's statistics.

Jackson, a five-star recruit, knows that coaches take the blame for both wins and losses, so it's not hard for him to understand why "Fire Kiffin" chants were ringing out as the Trojans fell to Washington State. "That was kind of tough," Jackson told FOX Sports' SCPlaybook. "[USC head coach Lane Kiffin] will be successful if the players do a good job. And if they don't get him a win, it's his fault… I don't really see it like that."

But why did the Trojans' star receiver only have seven catches for a mere 27 yards, a point brought up by Jackson?

"That was shocking," he said. "You have [receiver] Nelson [Agholor] too on the other side. So I was all confused. You have two dominant receivers, you can get them the ball easy."

Jackson is the No. 4 rated cornerback in the nation, but wants to play on offense in college. The USC staff has told him if he chooses Troy, he'll be a receiver.

"I want to make some plays," he said after noting he watched USC try to run the ball multiple times on third and long. "I was surprised… I was confused a little bit," he said.

When asked which schools he's looking at the hardest at this stage in his recruitment, Jackson listed USC last, saying the Trojans are "in the mix", before adding that he "doesn't know" what is going to happen with the coaching staff so he has to "see how that works out."

Jackson was a fan of USC before Kiffin was hired as the head coach. He grew up admiring the play of Reggie Bush.

Since moving from Illinois to Southern California, his stance on the football program has evolved from one of fandom of past players to a personal relationship with the current staff.

"When I got out here I was still a Reggie Bush fan," Jackson explained, "but then I started to visit, talked to the coach and everything. I built a relationship with them, so it was just perfect."

Jackson says when it comes to USC on his list of suitors, it's both the school and the staff keeping the Trojans in it.

Programs Jackson says are out front on his long list of offers include Florida, Florida State, Illinois, Notre Dame, UCLA and Oregon.

No official visits are on the calendar, though did Jackson did say he wants to go to LSU on Oct. 12 to see the Tigers host Florida.
