Jimbo Fisher Post Practice Quotes – Sept. 19, 2013

"Good Thursday. (I) liked it. We got a lot done, (looked) very sharp I thought. Glad we're getting our focus, which we always worry about at the end of the week. But, good week of practice, a good hard week. Focus was good, concentration was good and execution was good on both sides of the ball. Got a lot done this week and I'm anxious to play. We have a great opponent. Bethune-Cookman is going to be ready to play. We need to bring our ‘A' game and be ready to play."

On right guard Tre' Jackson:

"Tre' (Jackson) will be playing. That first day, he had to get that soreness out, which you got to do and I've been very pleased with his progress."

On players suspended for Saturday's game:

"There are going to be two guys suspended for this game for violation of team rules. Christian Jones and Eddie Goldman. Those guys will not be playing this week for us. It's all correctable, it's all done, but we have to abide by a certain set of guidelines."

On if he's looking forward to guys stepping up due to the absence of Mario Edwards Jr. this week:

"They better. They have the ability and they've been playing really well. They've got an opportunity because injuries are all part of football. That's why you've got to build depth and a lot of players and you play them all because those guys are going to get an opportunity, so they better be ready."

On the success of quarterbacks coming out of high school prepared:

"I think throwing year round and the things that are going on in camps and seven-on-sevens are making guys more prepared but it matters what offense you go into and the different types of things and what they actually do. These guys are definitely more prepared because they are actually doing it and they're getting exposed and a lot more knowledge at a younger age."

On who will fill in in Christian Jones' role now that he's out:

"Terrance Smith will start there and up front we'll have Demonte (McAllister), Timmy (Jernigan) and Nile (Lawrence-Stample) and Jaccobi (McDaniel) will be in there a time or two along with everybody else. I've been very impressed with Jaccobi in practice this week. You see him really getting back into the flow of things and I've noticed it. When we've gone good on good, he's jumped out at me."

On who will be in the place of Mario Edward Jr.:

"You'll see (Ukeme) Eligwe in there and some other guys - DeMarcus (Walker) and (Chris) Casher. They've all played a lot this year. We've got plenty of guys. I have great confidence. They've played a lot of ball already. That's why we keep that rotation."

On emphasis on getting the quarterback down on the ground this week:

"We had a huge emphasis on that last week when we played Nevada. There's no doubt. We have to tackle well in space and get the quarterback on the ground. The problem is, which one is going to play? All three of them are good athletes."
