Burgess gets big offer

Coconut Creek (Fla.) Monarch four-star Shawn Burgess picked up an offer from Florida State this week.

Shawn Burgess-Burgess immediately moved the Seminoles into his top five along with Alabama, Florida, LSU, and Miami. He currently has offers from those five schools as well as Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Kentucky, USF, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Florida State is recruiting him as an athlete, as he also plays wide receiver. He plans to visit Florida State soon, but he has not set up any visits yet.

Burgess had great things to say about the Seminoles.

"I attended a camp up there this summer," Burgess said. "FSU is performing very well this year, and [head coach] Jimbo Fisher likes to throw the ball."

Getting a degree is his main point of emphasis when it comes to what school he will attend.

"I'm looking for a school that will help me get my degree and help me move on to the next level," Burgess said.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound safety is the No.2 safety and the No. 33 player overall in the 2015 Scout 300.
