2016 Quarterback Talks FSU

Frostproof (Fla.) Frostproof Middle 2016 standout quarterback Xavier Gaines is already one of the most sought after recruits in the country. He has double digit offers from BCS level schools even though he is only a sophomore. Gaines has a current top five of Florida State, Auburn, Clemson, Ohio State, and Wisconsin.

Gaines has paid a lot of attention to Florida State the past few years and has noticed a trend with regards to their quarterbacks.

"I really like [Head] coach Jimbo Fisher and the production of his quarterbacks," Gaines said. "E.J. Manuel and Christian Ponder were both first round draft picks. Look at what Jimbo is doing with Jameis Winston now. I would like to be in their place if I decide to go there."

Gaines wouldn't mind being next on that list.

"I feel like I could be Florida State's next great quarterback," Gaines said. "I feel like I could step right in to that roll."

Gaines has already visited Florida State once.

"I visited Florida State during the summer," Gaines said. "I really enjoyed it and I plan on taking a lot more."

The Florida State offense has really stood out to Gaines.

"I honestly think it is unstoppable with Jameis and the wide outs," Gaines said. "Benjamin, Greene, Shaw, and O'Leary to go along with Freeman, Wilder, and Williams. It's incredible." The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Gaines has already been awarded a 4-star ranking for the 2016 class. He plans to make a decision either this spring or during next season.
