Are called offensive line coach Rick Trickett this morning and told him the news.
"I called coach Trickett this morning and told him I was committing," Are said. "He was really excited. He said that we would make big things happen."
Are had a lot of great things to say about Florida State, but it was one thing in particular that led him to pick the Seminoles.
"I really feel good about the coaches," Are said. "Especially coach Trickett. He was my first offer in the spring, and I just felt good about the whole situation there."
Are has been paying attention to Florida State's offensive line this year.
"I really like the way their offensive line plays," Are said. "I can't wait to be a part of that. I think Trickett can help me develop."
Are is early enrolling and believes this will be a great help to him for next year.
"I'm ready to get in and learn the playbook," Are said. "Coach Trickett told me Florida State has 21 different pass protections. We only use two right now. So I have a lot to learn, but I am looking forward to it."
Florida State is recruiting Are as an offensive guard, but that could change.
"Right now I am going to play guard," Are said.
"Coach Trickett has talked to me about playing center as well as tackle."
Are isn't the only one excited about his commitment to Florida State.
"My family is really excited," Are said. "Especially my little brother and little sister." Are, 6-foot-6, 345-pounds, is the No. 8 JUCO OT and the No. 50 overall JUCO player in the country.
