Florida State opens up against ND as 9.5 point favorites.
Notre Dame comes in with an 11-7 record. Despite their record the Irish have looked very good when playing the better teams on their schedule. They have beaten Duke, lost to Ohio State by three, lost to Iowa by six and beaten Virginia Tech. They also have quite a few bad losses on their resume with Indiana State and North Dakota State. They are currently 2-3 in ACC play. They come in at 94 in RPI.
Notre Dame come in 10th in the nation in assists per game with 17.1.
The Irish have four players averaging over 13 points per game starting with 6-foot-5 G Jerian Grant who averages 19 points and 6.2 assists while playing almost 36 minutes per game.
Next up is their 6-foot-11 C Garrick Sherman who averages 14.6 points and 8.3 rebounds in 27 minutes per game. Ojo and Bojo are going to have to keep this guy contained in the paint.
Then you have 6-foot-5 G/F Pat Connaughton. He averages 14.1 points and 7.3 rebounds in 37 minutes per game. He is an excellent shooter especially from the three point line where he shoots .423.
6-foot-2 guard Eric Atkins rounds out their big four. He averages 13.7 points and 4.9 assists in 37 minutes per game.
Other than those four no one else on the team is a real threat. The Florida State big men will have to play huge tonight and make Notre Dame shoot from outside. The Seminoles will have to do a much better job defending the three than they did against Virginia.
The game will be televised on ESPN3/WatchESPN and Channel 6 on Comcast in Tallahassee.
