Seminoles Rally for 10-4 Win, Take Series

Florida State started slowly but came back to take the series against Georgia.

It took seven innings before Florida State was able to take its first lead of the game, but when the Seminoles did it was emphatic. They added two more in the third after Florida State had tied it up. The Bulldogs added one more run in the sixth after Florida State had tied it up again. Every time Georgia scored Florida State responded. Head coach Mike Martin was extremely pleased with the way his team played.

"We really persevered," Martin said. "I'm really proud of the way we got it done. It's never easy. Georgia is an outstanding ball club. They're a young club, but they're going to be better and better as they go through this thing. Our ball club showed that they are not going to let up. That comes from within. That's the way they play the game." .

It wasn't just the usual guys that sparked the Seminoles. The 7-8-9 hitters for Florida State had 5 hits, 6 RBIs, and 3 runs. He also had 2 walks and scored 3 times. .

"He threw me a fastball right down the middle," Stewart said. "I got every bit of that one. It was one of those that I hit it so good that I didn't even feel it come off the bat. I squared it up perfectly." .

Brandon Liebrandt struggled today pitching only 5 innings and giving up 3 runs on 5 hits with two walks. He did post 5 strikeouts to bring his season total to a team leading 10. Relief pitcher Bryant Holtmann struggled as well. He gave up 3 hits and a run while facing four batters. Mr. reliable Gage Smith came on and got Florida State out of a bases loaded jam in the sixth.
