NoleDigest Power Rankings

After a tumultuous week, the NoleDigest staff post their first power rankings of the season.

Florida State starts on top of the NoleDigest power rankings on the strength of a 21-game winning streak, but there’s plenty of differences below the Seminoles. We’ll definitely be watching this week’s Auburn/Mississippi State game.

Rationale

1

FSU

They just keep winning. 21 games and counting...

2

Miss State

As big and physical up front as anyone in the country. Not sold on their secondary, but held up well vs. TAMU

3

Auburn

Not as good up front as in 2013 on either side of the ball, but the offense is even better. I think their defense will struggle in Starkville this weekend

4

Ole Miss

They've earned this spot by beating Bama, but I'm skeptical of how long they remain near the top. Wouldn't be surprised to see three losses from here

5

TCU

They earned it with a home win over OU, but Baylor looms in a possible let-down spot

6

Oklahoma

Close road loss to TCU, has been more consistent so far than those below.

7

Alabama

What is happening in Tuscaloosa? Tide have lost last three vs. ranked opponents. They must really miss Jeremy Pruitt.

8

Georgia

Best running game in the country, will give Auburn all they can handle in a few weeks.

9

Notre Dame

I think this team is better than the 2012 team that played for the title was.

10

Baylor

Offense looked surprisingly bad vs. Texas. I'm not a believer in the Bears, but the're in this spot for now.

Rank

Rationale

1

Florida State

They remain here until they are beaten, have improved weekly, and should continue to get better

2

Auburn

Last year's runner up seems hungry to finish the job this year

3

Miss State

Dan Mullen has a pair of impressive victories already this year

4

Ole Miss

Pulled major upset with a lot of help from Alabama

5

Baylor

Not scoring quite like they once did, but the defense is better

6

Alabama

Played a poor game last weekend with two many mistakes

7

Notre Dame

As usual ND's schedule looks ferocious pre-season, but really is not difficult, key game with FSU coming up

8

Georgia

Have very few roadblocks in their way to the SEC title game

9

TCU

Just when you thought TCU may have peaked and been on the downside, they pop their head up again

10

Arizona

All they have done is win thus far, although it has been far from pretty

Rank

Wayne

Rationale

1

FSU

Winning is hard. Doing it 21 straight times is incredible.

2

Auburn

Looked impressive against LSU. We will see what they have against MSU.

3

Miss State

Two "impressive" wins against LSU and TAMU. Neither of which i think are very good. We will get a better idea of who they are this Saturday.

4

Notre Dame

The Irish didn't look great on Saturday, but they won.

5

Baylor

They should probably play someone other than the southeast sisters of the poor school of the blind.

6

Ole Miss

Took down Alabama. Still start Bo Wallace at quarterback so they may not last long.

7

Alabama

Lost to Ole Miss for the first time in a decade.

8

Michigan State

Got crushed by Oregon, but looked good for the first three quarters against Nebraska. Only reason they are ahead of Oregon is that I think if they played now MSU would win that game.

9

TCU

Beat the team many thought was the best in the country.

10

Oklahoma

Lost to TCU. Trevor Knight gets to call Katy Perry though. So he still wins.
