NoleDigest Top 10 - Week 7

FSU remains on top until someone shows otherwise with the state of Mississippi following closely behind.

Our Top 10 was ahead of the curve on the Mississippi schools. Our Top 5 is set, but we’re not expecting two of those teams to remain there very long…

Rationale

1

Florida State

Time to show the country just how good they are.

2

Miss State

Keep winning and both lines are dominant

3

Ole Miss

Better be careful this week with an improving Tennessee

4

Baylor

Major comeback shows the team has heart. Where was the D?

5

Notre Dame

Expect this to be their high point for the season

6

Alabama

Taking a lot of flak for a road SEC win against a game squad

7

Georgia

USCe loss is looking like a bad one. Simply have not performed in that game

8

Auburn

Will keep them relatively high, but still have a tough road

9

Clemson

With Watson in charge, the Tigers are a different team. Should win out.

10

Oregon

The best of a group of 10 teams fighting to make the top 10

Rationale

1

FSU

Winning is hard. Doing it 22 straight times is incredible. Florida State will be in for a dogfight against the Irish to remain in this spot.

2

Miss State

What's that? I can't hear you over the cowbells. CLANGA CLANGA CLANGA

3

Ole Miss

Dominated an A&M team that hasn't looked good since they beat an extremely overrated USC team. Still better wins than the rest of the unbeatens.

4

Baylor

It wasn't pretty and Briles needs to learn what the word defense means, but Baylor showed a lot of fight coming back from being down 21 in the fourth.

5

Notre Dame

Gave up 43 to UNC. Scored 50. Got the win and preserved a top 5 matchup against FSU.

6

Oklahoma

Was dominated stats wise for most of the game and still got the victory against rival Texas. They will need to play much better as they host EMAW this weekend.

7

Auburn

Played about as poorly as possible in the first quarter, but fought their way back into the game before a couple of questionable penalties put the game away for MSU.

8

Oregon

Came out and dominated UCLA. They have two fairly easy weeks to get ready to play the bane of the Ducks existence: Stanford.

9

Alabama

Needed a blocked extra point, a missed field goal, and a fumble through the back of the endzone by Arkansas to win on Saturday. The Tide look vulnerable, and will have to watch out for a wounded A&M team.

10

Michigan State

It didn't look good, but the Spartans pulled out a 14 point victory over Purdue on Saturday. They just need to keep winning and hope everything falls their way.

Rationale

1

FSU

22 games and counting...

2

Miss State

As big and physical up front as anyone in the country. Not sold on their secondary, but held up well vs. TAMU

3

Ole Miss

They've earned this spot by beating Bama, but I'm skeptical of how long they remain near the top. Defense is legit, but I still don't trust Bo Wallace

4

Georgia

Best running game in the country, will give Auburn all they can handle in a few weeks.

5

Auburn

Not as good up front as in 2013 on either side of the ball, but the offense is even better. I think their defense will struggle in Starkville this weekend

6

Alabama

What is happening in Tuscaloosa? Tide have lost last three vs. ranked opponents. They must really miss Jeremy Pruitt.

7

Notre Dame

I think this team is better than the 2012 team that played for the title was.

8

Baylor

Not an elite team on either side, but have to give them credit for finding different ways to win.

9

Oregon

Looked much better up front with their left tackle back from injury. Still not an elite team but a very good one

10

Clemson

With Watson, I think they're a top-10 team. Will be interesting to see if they can win without him the next four weeks
