FSU secures visit from JUCO LB

Florida State has secured a visit from a top JUCO linebacker.

According to a Noles247 report Florida State has secured an official visit from the No. 8 JUCO player in the country Lorenzo Phillips. He is the No. 1 rated JUCO linebacker in the 2015 class. According to the report Phillips will be receiving an inhome from running backs coach Jay Graham this weekend and will be bringing his family with him on his official visit January 23rd.

Phillips can play with his hand in the dirt and is an excellent pass rusher. He does a great job of using his hands to prevent the offensive lineman from getting a hold of him. He also moves very well laterally and plays with a high motor. He is very similar to former FSU linebacker Ukeme Eligwe.

Scout.com recruiting analyst Greg Powers had this to say about Phillips.

“Phillips is an exciting defensive player. He is lightning off the edge and is someone who makes a lot of tackles for a loss as a result. He is a nightmare for offensive tackles, who he at times just blows right past. He is also fast in general and that allows him to be a guy who can cover as well. He will fit in perfectly in that hybrid position outside backer/safety position in college.”
