Florida State hires Brad Lawing

Florida State has hired a new Defensive Ends coach to replace Sal Sunseri.

Florida State defensive ends coach Sal Sunseri had been gone just a few hours when, according to a Warchant.com , Florida State hired his replacement. That man is former Florida defensive line coach Brad Lawing. He has coached at Appalachian State, South Carolina, North Carolina and Michigan State in addition to Florida. He coached under Nick Saban while at Michigan State from 1999-2001 and was the recruiting coordinator while there.

Lawing has coached multiple first round picks including the No. 1 overall player in the 2014 draft Jadeveon Clowney. That list will grow to include defensive end Dante Fowler Jr. this year.

Florida’s new head coach Jim McElwain did not retain him when former head coach Will Muschamp was fired and became Auburn’s new defensive coordinator. Lawing is currently 57 years old and has been coaching for over 30 years.
