Florida State Adds Two QBs for 2015

Jameis Winston is going to be Florida State's third straight quarterback to be drafted in the first round. FSU added two more quarterbacks to the mix for 2015 on Wednesday.

Florida State returns:

Sean Maguire, Junior

John Franklin, Sophomore

J.J. Cosentino, Freshmen

The additions of Deondre Francois and DeAndre Johnson give FSU five quarterbacks on the roster and Johnson---as an early enrollee--- provides four arms for the Spring.

Francois has the higher ceiling and has some of the "it" that Winston brought to the table. His arm talent is as good as FSU has had and we know that Jimbo Fisher will use his athleticism in FSU's offense. Francois did not enroll early, thus it is extremely unlikely that he starts in 2015, but he is "more ready" to play than most. It was huge for FSU to keep him from UF and he solidifies the depth chart.

Johnson was a four year starter at First Coast and can play the game. He lacks ideal measurables, but possesses many of the intangibles that are necessary at QB. Maguire signed in the same class as Winston and the projection was what has happened in reality. He was signed to red-shirt, develop, and have a chance to start down the road. Hard to predict the future, but it could play out similarly with Johnson.

Johnson was a rock solid commitment, along with Derwin James he is the gold standard for a commitment.

The future could not be brighter as FSU has a verbal commitment from Malik Henry in the class of 2016. Henry is a surefire top 5 QB in the country and also projected to be a dual sport star like Winston.
