Newberry (Fla.) Newberry High School sophomore defensive lineman Cory Durden took a trip to Tallahassee for the Florida State Junior Day on Saturday with his teammate, and current 2017 Seminole commit, Ja’len Parks. Durden currently holds offers from Utah and Oregon State. Florida State didn’t offer Durden, but that doesn’t mean an offer isn’t coming soon.
“Coach Fisher likes me,” Durden said. “He invited me to spring practice and told me to try to come to summer camp. I’m going to try to go.”
Durden’s played multiple positions for Newberry on both sides of the ball.
“I’m a defensive end/defensive tackle,” Durden said. “I go to a 1A school and we only have 40 players. I play everything. My freshman year I played tight end, but I put on 80 pounds.”
The 6-foot-4, 283-pound defensive lineman said he really enjoyed his visit.
“It was a good experience,” Durden said. “There’s a lot of new stuff. I met a lot of the coaches. It was a great experience.
Durden’s visit to Florida State was his third. He ha previously visited for the Clemson and Florida games last season.
