Florida State received a commitment from Miami (Fla.) Norland linebacker Emmett Rice early in February despite not visiting Florida State. Since his commitment to Florida State Rice has seen his recruitment pick up dramatically. In addition to Florida State he now holds offers from Alabama, Cincinnatti, Florida, Kentucky, Miami, and NC State.
On Saturday Rice took that visit and enjoyed it immensely.
“It was very comfortable,” Rice said. “It made me feel like I was at home. Everyone was inviting. I felt like I was at Norland. The coaches and everyone were showing me a bunch of love and I just felt like I was home.”
As for what impressed him the most Rice had an interesting answer.
“The facilities and the food,” Rice said. “How much they eat. The Facilities are nice and the indoor field is nice.”
Rice had a chance to meet new defensive ends coach Brad Lawing who also works with the outside linebackers.
“I got to talk to him,” Rice said. “We went over how you break down pass protections and stunts.”
After the visit Rice said he felt like he made the right decision.
“I made the right choice,” Rice said. “It felt like family. It’s FSU. Who wouldn’t want to commit to FSU? Now I see that I made the right choice now that I finally got up here and experienced it for myself. I was hearing all the rumors and now I got to experience it for myself.”
Rice weighed in at 6-foot-3, 190-pounds during the Florida State Junior Day.
