Korey Charles talks FSU Junior Day Visit

3-star safety Korey Charles talks Florida State, his top schools, and an upcoming visit.

Tallahassee (Fla.) North Florida Christian safety Korey Charles took the short trip over to Florida State for their Junior Day on Saturday. In addition to his Florida State offer he also holds offers from Clemson, Florida, Louisville, Miami, Mississippi State, and North Carolina. Despite being so close Charles said he was able to see some new things at Florida State.

“I’d have to say the new locker room and coaches offices,” Charles said. “Just all the new stuff they’ve built.”

The 3-star safety has built a good relationship with defensive coordinator/defensive backs coach Charles Kelly.

“I enjoy spending time with coach Kelly,” Charles said. “We developed a relationship last year and we talk all the time. He’s a really good coach.”

Charles had plenty to say about what makes coach Kelly a great recruiter.

“I would say his genuineness and how much he cares about who he’s recruiting,” Charles said. “Pretty much his family values.”

While he wouldn’t name any leaders Charles did say he has a top group of schools.

“Florida State is still on my list,” Charles said. “Every one on my list is even right now. I have Florida State, Clemson, Florida, North Carolina, and Mississippi State still on my list.”

Florida State had been looking at Charles on the defensive side of the ball, but that has changed.

“Coach Kelly was telling me that he talked to the receivers coach and that they watched my film,” Charles said. “He was saying that they both like me on both sides of the ball. It makes me feel good that I can choose what I want to do and make my own opportunity.”

Charles said he only has one other visit planned before he starts focusing on Football.

“Next Saturday I’m supposed to be going to UF,” Charles said. “After I take my visit over there I’m just going to focus on football.”
