Lawrenceville (Ga.) Archer 2017 cornerback Jamyest Williams traveled to Florida State for the Seminoles Junior Day. Williams picked up a Florida State offer during the Junior day to bump his offer list into the double digits. Williams said he had heard about how Florida State is, but he had to come here to really see it.
“I came here because I’d heard about it, but I had to come here to really see it,” Williams said. “To see how I felt here. There’s a really great family atmosphere and the players were keeping it real with me. It was really nice.”
Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher compared Williams to two of the best athletes to play in Tallahassee in recent years.
“Coach Fisher said I reminded him of Lamarcus Joyner and Greg Reid,” Williams said.
“He was talking about how he really likes me and wanted me to commit today,” Williams added. “He said he really wants me to come here and that I remind him of Lamarcus, but mainly Greg Reid.”
Williams said that he wasn’t ready to commit just yet.
“I think it’s kind of too early,” Williams said. “I’m going to sit back and come to the spring game. Maybe camp here.”
Williams said that he had a few questions coming in, but Florida State provided a player panel to answer questions from parents and recruits without the coaches in the room.
“They had a player panel where people were asking questions and stuff,” Williams said. “A lot of the questions the parents were asking were my questions so I just sat back and listened. It lets you know that the coaches are comfortable with their players out in public. They don’t have to worry about them saying anything stupid or crazy. They were very well spoken.”
Williams measured in at 5-foot-9, 175-pounds during his visit.
