Florida State Spring Practice Report: 3/27

Florida State returned to practice down a hand full of players after illness forces two cancelled practices.

Florida State returned to practice after having the Wednesday and Thursday practices cancelled due to a stomach bug that was going around. Quite a few players seemed to still be suffering from the bug as multiple players were either missing or not dressed.

Ryan Hoefeld, George Campbell, Jeremy Kerr, Chris Casher, Ryan Green, and Mathew Thomas were not at practice. Derrick Mitchell, Ethan Frith, Colin Blake, Nile Lawrence-Stample, Calvin Brewton, and Ermon Lane were at practice but not participating. Terrance Smith and Alec Eberle were limited.

With Hoefeld and Eberle not able to participate walk-on Keith Weeks was the starting center. Wilson Bell was working at first team right guard instead of Derrick Kelly, who was working at second team right tackle. Corey Martinez was working as a back up center.

With Lawrence-Stample and Mitchell out Derrick Nnadi was working with a rotation of Keith Bryant and DeMarcus Christmas on the first team defensive line with Demarcus Walker and Jacob Pugh. Tyrell Lyons and Terrance Smith continue to work as the first team linebackers. Trey Marshall, Nate Andrews, Jalen Ramsey, Marquez White, and Tyler Hunter were in the secondary.

Marshall and Derwin James were the second team safeties with Tyler Hunter working at cornerback.

Bobo Wilson, Travis Rudolph, and Jalen Ramsey were returning punts.

Coach Brewster was really on the tight ends today, but Mavin Saunders and Ryan Izzo both looked good at times.

Jacques Patrick continues to stand out as a physical freak among the running backs.

A few former players were in attendance: Josue Matias, Mario Edwards Jr., Nick O’Leary, Kevin Haplea, and Jacobbi McDaniels.

Signees Deondre Francois and Auden Tate were also in attendance as well as 2016 commit Janarius Robinson.
