3/28 Florida State Practice Report

Florida State got some key players back from illness on Saturday.

Florida State was in pads again Saturday morning with a few players returning to practice. George Campbell and Ermon Lane were both back in pads and fully participating.

Offensive lineman Chad Mavety was not dress and had a boot on his right foot. Linebacker Terrance Smith was also in a boot. Calvin Brewton, Kermit Whitfield, and Derrick Kelly were not dressed. Chris Casher, Mathew Thomas, Josh Sweat, and Derrick Mitchell are all out for the spring, but were in attendance. Nile Lawrence-Stample, Ryan Hoefeld, Bobo Wilson, and Delvin Purifoy were not at practice.

Eberle was back working as the first team center while Wilson Bell continued to work at right guard with Kelly out. Brock Ruble was working as the first team right tackle.

Before walkthroughs started the team was working on kickoff coverage. The first team unit consisted of Jalen Ramsey, Tyler Hunter, Jonathan Vickers, Trey Marshall, Lorenzo Featherston, Jacob Pugh, George Campbell, Ja’Vonn Harrison, Nate Andrews, Lamarcus Brutus, and, of course, Roberto Aguayo.

With Bobo Wilson out Ja’Vonn Harrison was working with Ermon Lane and Travis Rudolph as the first team receivers. George Campbell was the first receiver in for the four receiver sets.

Lorenzo Featherston, DeMarcus Christmas, Derrick Nnadi, Jacob Pugh, Demarcus Walker, Tyrell Lyons, Ro’Derrick Hoskins, Tyler Hunter, Nate Andrews, Jalen Ramsey, and Marquez White made up the first team defense today. Featherston and Walker spent most of their time as down linemen while Pugh was standing up.

When the defense switched to a nickel package Trey Marshall replaced Featherston. When they went to the dime Featherston and Lamarcus Brutus came in for Tyrell Lyons and Demarcus Christmas.

Coaches Lawing and Odell were working with the defensive line on getting of the ball quickly.

Mavin Saunders and Mario Pender were both getting work with the first team offense. Saunders would get sent out of position drills later for jogging on his routes.

Karlos Williams was the only former player in attendance today.

Signee Auden Tate was in attendance for the second day in a row as well as Punter Drue Chrisman was also in attendance. It’s his second trip to Florida State in less than a month and he holds a Seminole offer.

Post Practice Update

Derrick Kelly and Chad Mavety were out with concussion. Mavety’s boot was precautionary.

Jimbo said Marquez White has been excellent in practice for the defense and that Jacob Pugh has been really good as well.

Jimbo said Mavin Saunders and Ryan Izzo both practiced well during the 11 on 11 portions of practice.

He also praised the way Sean Maguire threw the ball today and said that he was able to put the ball in the right place at the right time.

Bobo Wilson, Ryan Green, and Nile Lawrence-Stample were all still out with the stomach illness.
