Florida State had their first scrimmage of the spring today. The offensive line was still without three starters with Derrick Kelly and Chad Mavety continuing to be sidelined with concussions and Ryan Hoefeld being absent due to illness. Ethan Frith was also not dressed out.

Terrance Smith, Delvin Purifoy, Calvin Brewton, and Kermit were not dressed out. Smith was still in a boot for his toe injury. Jeremy Kerr was not at practice.

Ryan Green, Bobo Wilson, and Nile Lawrence-Stample all returned to practice today.

Josh Sweat, Derrick Mitchell, Da’Vante Phillips, Reggie Northrup are all out for the spring, but were in attendance.

With all the offensive linemen out Brock Ruble, Wilson Bell, Alec Eberle, Kareem Are, and Roderick Johnson. Corey Martinez was the second team center.

The offense was working on four receiver sets with Ja’Vonn Harrison, Bobo Wilson, Ermon Lane and Travis Rudolph. Mario Pender was working as the first team running back. Harrison and Cook were both in non contact jerseys for the start of the scrimmage.

Jalen Ramsey was not at the beginning of walkthroughs, but showed up right at the end. With him out the defense looked quite a bit different.

Tyler Hunter and Marquez White were the first team corners. Nate Andrews and Lamarcus Brutus were the safeties. Ro’Derrick Hoskins and Tyrell Lyons are still the only scholarship linebackers healthy. Jacob Pugh was also in a standing rush linebacker position. Lorenzo Featherston, Nile Lawrence-Stample, Derrick Nnadi, and Demarcus Walker were the down linemen.

As continues to be the case, when Florida State switches to the nickel Featherston comes out and Trey Marshall comes in to fill the star role. When the defense switched to the Dime package Featherston came back in for Nnadi and Derwin James came in for Tyrell Lyons.

Bobo Wilson and Travis Rudolph were the first team kick off returners. Wilson was also the first team punt returner with Rudolph as the second team guy.

Ronald Darby, Cam Erving, Mario Edwards Jr., Devonta Freeman, and Jacobbi McDaniel were in attendance. Former Heisman Trophy winner and ESPN commentator Desmond Howard was also taking in practice.
