Florida State practiced in shells on Wednesday. Derrick Kelly and Chad Mavety were still out with concussions, but the offensive line did get Ethan Frith back participating today. Mavin Saunders and Freddie Stevenson were the only player who had been participating that weren’t today. Stevenson was absent. Kermit Whitfield, Calvin Brewton, and Terrance Smith continue to be sidelined. Delvin Purifoy was not at practice.
Derwin James was also shadowing Nate Andrews at the free safety position. Tyler Hunter continues to move around working at strong safety during the 4-3 walkthroughs, but moved over to working at the star with Trey Marshall in the nickel package.
Marshall and James were the second team safeties while Malique Jackson and Ryan Green were the second team corners. Justin Shanks and DeMarcus Christmas were working as the second team defensive tackles behind Derrick Nnadi and Nile Lawrence-Stample.
