Florida State Practice Report: 4/6 Scrimmage

Florida State scrimmaged for the final time before the Spring Game.

Florida State continues to practice at near half strength due to all the injuries. The team conducted their final scrimmage before the Spring Game in Doak Campbell on Monday afternoon.

Lorenzo Featherston, Jacob Pugh, Calvin Brewton, Derrick Kelly, Chad Mavety, Ethan Frith, Kermit Whitfield, and Jeremy Kerr were all not dressed. Nile Lawrence-Stample was not in attendance. Tight ends Mavin Saunders and Ryan Izzo were both back in pads and participating.

The offense remained the same with Brock Ruble, Wilson Bell, Alec Eberle, Kareem Are, and Roderick Johnson on the offensive line. Ermon Lane, Travis Rudolph, and Bobo Wilson were the receivers and Dalvin Cook and Sean Maguire were in the backfield.

The first team defense has been hit extremely hard so far this spring and that continued today. Rick Leonard, DeMarcus Christmas, Derrick Nnadi, and Demarcus Walker were the first team defensive line. Ro’Derrick Hoskins and Tyrell Lyons continue to be the only healthy scholarship linebackers.

Jalen Ramsey was back at cornerback after working at star during Saturday’s practice. Marquez White was the other corner, jumping back ahead of Ryan Green. Trey Marshall was back in the star and Lamarcus Brutus and Nate Andrews were the safeties. Derwin James was shadowing Andrews.

James was also working as one of the first team gunners on the kick off coverage unit and he was continually the first player down the field right in front of Jalen Ramsey.

Ermon Lane was working as the first team punt returner with Travis Rudolph backing him up. Mario Pender and Bobo Wilson continue to work as the first team kick returners.

2016 corner Simeon Gatling and 2017 quarterback Hendon Hooker were in attendance.

Ernie Sims was also taking in practice. He spent a lot of time talking with Reggie Northrup.
