Breaking Down The Gainesville Super Regional

An in depth look at Florida State's next opponent in the Gainesville Super Regional.

Florida State will travel to rival Florida this weekend for a Super Regional matchup that will send one team to the College World Series in Omaha and one team home for the year. The Seminoles won two of the three midweek games this season, but this will be the first time that the two teams will see each other’s top end pitching. Here is how the Gators break down.

Breakdown

Florida is one of the top teams in the country and one of the hottest teams around. They are on a seven game winning streak dating back to the SEC tournament and dominated their regional. They’re the top defensive team in the country, by far, and won’t beat themselves. Both their starting pitching and relief pitching are excellent and are capable of winning low scoring games for their teams.

On offense they’re a very dangerous team all the way down the lineup. Bader and Schwarz are the two that represent the power threats, but each player in the lineup is capable of hitting the long ball. Only one of their everyday players are hitting below .290.

This is a very dangerous team and Florida State will need to be on top of their game in order to have a chance to take this series.
