Bowden's Option Year Not Picked Up

The Seminole Boosters have decided not to pick up the option year or renew Bobby Bowden's contract.

Per a report by the Tallahassee Democrat Florida State has opted not to renew Bobby Bowden’s contract for the opt in year of the two year deal they signed. The Boosters will instead schedule the Seminole legend on a per event basis.

Coach Bowden told the Democrat that he wasn’t surprised by the Booster’s decision.

“They decided not to renew it. (I) wasn’t surprised at all,” said Bowden. “I didn’t feel like I was earning my money, to be honest with you. I didn’t feel like I was doing enough to earn my money.”

Bowden recently made national news after some questionable comments were made on the Paul Finebaum show about former Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston. It is unlikely that those comments made a big impact on the decision, but they likely confirmed it.
