Jimbo Fisher Camp Top Performers: Day One

Who stood out on day one of the July Jimbo Fisher Camp?

2017 4-star wide receiver D.J. Matthews

Matthews was the overall MVP of the day. Everyone who watched him was just amazed with his ability. He is an elite athlete to go along with being an elite football player. He made a few incredible catches that had some of the Florida State wide receivers yelling.

2016 4-star Quarterback Malik Henry

Henry was fantastic at the camp for the second straight year. His arm motion has gotten much more compact and he’s getting the ball out a lot quicker. He made multiple deep throws that were on the money and over the correct shoulder. His ball placement was excellent throughout the day.

2017 running back Kurt Taylor

Taylor was the best running back of the day. He’s 5-foot-9.5, 200-pounds and is built like a tank. With that build you wouldn’t expect him to move as well as he does. With as well as he performed today I would not be surprised to see Florida State extend him an offer in the next few days.

2017 4-star linebacker VanDarius Cowan

Cowan is incredibly smooth and fluid for 6-foot-4, 220-pounds. He was the best linebacker on the field today and continues to show why Florida State accepted his commitment this early in the 2017 cycle. He can play every linebacker position and did a very good job in coverage today.

2018 running back Lorenzo Lingard

Lingard was extremely fluid and has a great frame. He’s extremely quick and very agile. He dominated the drill portion of the camp and did very well catching the ball out of the backfield. He already holds a Florida State offer and showed exactly why he got one this early.
