Linebacker Reggie Northrup was Florida State’s leading tackler last season, but he tore his ACL against Oregon in the Rose Bowl. His status for the 2015 season had been up in the air until today. Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher had this to say when asked about Northrup’s status.
“Reggie Northrup full go,” Fisher said. “We may monitor reps on Reggie occasionally just to make sure that knee doesn’t take too much too early. Do that with veteran plays anyway.”
That’s great news for a Florida State defense that started a converted safety and defensive end at linebacker in the Spring Game. With Terrance Smith also returning from a toe injury, and Lorenzo Phillips about to get cleared there is a little more leeway at a position of concern for this upcoming season.
