Florida State Practice Report: 8/12

Florida State returned to practice in the scorching Florida heat today.

The big news from today was that JUCO linebacker Lorenzo Phillips has been cleared to practice. He had been unable to practice for the first week as he waited on an official transcript. He was in shorts and a helmet today since he has to wait the mandatory period of four practices before he can practice in full pads.

The rest of the team was in pads today. Lorenzo Featherston was the only new player that was sitting out. George Campbell, Tavarus McFadden, Calvin Brewton, Justin Shanks, David Robbins, and Cole Minshew all continue to be sidelined. Sh’Mar Kilby-Lane was in a non-contact jersey. Deondre Francois returned to participating. Marcus Lewis was back fully participating as well. Jalen Wilkerson and Chris Casher both were absent from practice.

Nyquan Murray made a nice one-handed catch during warmup drills. Derwin James yelled,” Don’t bring that over here” as he walked away.

Murray was working as the first team punt returner. Bobo Wilson and Travis Rudolph were also working there.

3-star defensive tackle and Florida State commitment Cedric Wood was taking in practice.

Scouts from the Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars were in attendance.

Post Practice Update

Chris Casher has to have his knee scoped and has an MCL sprain. He will miss a few weeks.

Lorenzo Featherston also has to have his knee scoped, but is expected to be back in a week and a half.
