Florida State opens up the 2015 season Saturday against the Texas State Bobcats. Here is how the NoleDigest.com staff predicts the game to unfold.
Wayne:This will be a good test for a very young Florida State team. The Bobcat's are a very experienced, well coached team and will present a few challenges for the Seminoles. The Florida State defense will need to play very disciplined against the option looks that the Bobcats will be throwing at them, which could be an issue with a very young defensive front. I expect the Florida State offense will struggle early, but get more continuity as the game goes on. Head coach Jimbo Fisher will likely try to establish the run to start the game and ease new quarterback Everett Golson in. Don't be surprised if Florida State is only up by two touchdowns at halftime before cruising to a 45-13 win.
Jason:Texas State is a great opener for this young team, providing a run-heavy spread-option attack that will challenge the defense to improve in areas where they definitely need to get better but against an opponent that likely doesn’t have the talent to keep the game especially close. I expect Jimbo Fisher to use this opportunity to throw the football a bit more with Everett Golson in the effort to get the passing offense more off the ground, but when push comes to shove, FSU will have to turn to the ground game to create distance. I expect a bit of a rough offensive outing with some frustration and three-and-outs, but FSU ultimately walks away a winner, Noles 34–10.
