Florida State shook off some special teams blunders on Saturday and dominated the Texas State Bobcats on the way to a 59-16 victory. During his weekly press conference Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher named three MVPs from the game.
Florida State running back Dalvin Cook was named the offensive MVP after rushing 19 times for 156 yards and 2 touchdowns. Cook averaged 8.2 yards per carry and also added one catch for 13 yards.
On defense defensive back Jalen Ramsey and defensive lineman Giorgio Newberry were named co-defensive MVPs. Ramsey had four tackles and a pass break up. Newberry had one tackle, but it was a tackle for loss.
"Jalen played super," Fisher said. "He did a tremendous job all over. Physical, covered, he did all those things. But Giorgio. Go watch that film. Giorgio's playing football. That guy can change us. He's 6-foot-7, 300-pounds. He can run and play inside or outside. He did a really nice job in the game. A really nice job."
Newberry has played three different positions since he's come to Florida State including on the offensive side of the ball at tight end.
