Florida State will turn to Vickers and Patrick with Mario Pender out

Florida State will look to Johnathan Vickers and Jacques Patrick to back up Dalvin Cook.

Florida State running back Mario Pender is currently in the hospital with a collapsed lung, and head coach Jimbo Fisher said that he will not play against Wake Forest this weekend. Dalvin Cook will continue to get the bulk of the carries, but the Seminoles will turn to sophomore Johnathan Vickers and freshman Jacques Patrick to back him up.

Coach Fisher had a lot of praise for both Vickers and Patrick, and he believes that both are ready to play.

"They’ve been practicing well the whole time,” Fisher said. “They’re ready to go... [They have] size, strength, knowledge of what’s going on. They’re big, physical, fast guys that can bring it downhill and are hard to tackle."

Patrick has three carries this season for 13 yards. Vickers has not recieved any carries, but does have one reception for 24 yards.
