Nate Andrews And Terrance Smith Out for Florida State Against Miami

Florida State got some bad news on the injury front for the Miami game.

During his call in show on Wednesday night Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher confirmed that Terrance Smith and Nate Andrews will be out for Miami. Smith and Andrews suffered leg injuries during the first quarter of the Wake Forest game. It is unclear when they will be able to return.

Florida State will have Reggie Northrup to replace Smith. Northrup, a senior, was the leading tackler for the Seminoles in 2014, and should be able to step right in without too much of an issue. JUCO transfer Lorenzo Phillips will also be called upon to play more than he has so far this season. Ro'Derrick Hoskins had moved into a starting role opposite of Smith for Wake Forest, and will need to step up even more than he had been with Smith out.

True Freshman Derwin James will step in for the injured Andrews in the base packages that the Seminoles employ. James has played in each game this season, but had primarily been used in a pass rushing role. When the defense moves into the Dime package Andrews moved down to the money role. One of Trey Marshall and Tyler Hunter will be his replacement there.

Jimbo Fisher would not give a definitive answer on running back Dalvin Cook. Fisher said he was day to day, but did go on to say that he was making good progress, and that he would never count out Cook.
