Dalvin Cook came into the game just 12 yards short of breaking Warrick Dunn's single season rushing record of 1,242 yards. Cook is the first running back since Dunn to rush for over 1,000 yards in consecutive seasons, and needed just over nine games to break the record.
"Ain’t no better way to do it in Doak Campbell in front of our fans," Cook said. "O-line was blocking good today. Ain’t no better way to do it."
Dunn was at the game, and told Cook to go break the record.
"It means a lot" Cook said. "This wasn’t something I set for myself when I got here. The time is now. I feel like Warrick came and told me during the game, ‘The record is there to be broken and I broke it.’"
Cook now has 1,369 yards on the season with three games left to play on the season.
