Florida State guard Malik Beasley has won the ACC Freshman of the Week award. Here is the ACC release on Beasley:
Florida State’s Beasley averaged 19.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and a steal in three games last week. He scored his career-high of 25 points against Hofstra, scored 21 against Jacksonville and added 11 against DePaul and has scored in double figures in each of his first four games as a Seminole. Beasley, who last week scored 21 points in a season-opening win over Nicholls State, became the first player in Florida State history to score at least 20 points in his first three career games. During the Seminoles’ three games last week, Beasley shot .529 from the field (18-of-34), .529 from the 3-point line (9-of-17) and .857 from the free-throw line (12-of-14) in averaging 28.3 minutes played per game. He closed the week making his final eight free throws in his last two games. Beasley becomes the second FSU player in as many weeks to be named Freshman of the Week, joining teammate Dwayne Bacon.
