Houston Head Coach Tom Herman Praises Florida State Running Back Dalvin Cook

Houston head coach Tom Herman had some interesting comments on Florida State running back Dalvin Cook.

It was announced on Sunday that Florida State will play in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl against Houston. During the initial bowl game teleconference Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher was asked if Dalvin Cook is as good as his numbers suggest this year. Fisher answered that Cook was a very dynamic running back and one of the best players in the country. Houston head coach Tom Herman interjected once Fisher was done with his comment.

"I was hoping you were going to say that he wasn’t as good as the numbers coach,” Herman joked.

Cook has run for 1.658 yards this season, and is averaging an incredible 7.86 yards per carry. Herman was asked if he's seen any of Cook this season, and he responded candidly.

“Just on SportsCenter,” Herman said. “He seems to be showing up a lot on there lately. But I’ve had a chance to do a couple day games where Florida State played at night. Had a chance to switch the T.V. on and watch him play. Just a dynamic, dynamic player, and like coach Fisher said about our quarterback, you can tell his toughness. He’s not just a speed guy. He’s not just a track guy back there. He’s got great vision, great balance, his first step quickness and explosion is very remarkable, and he still gets the tough yards as well."

Herman may not have seen much of Cook as of yet, but you can bet that the Houston head coach will have had his fill of Dalvin Cook highlights by the time these two teams kick it off on New Years Eve.
