Gone are the days where Florida State wasn't up with the Joneses. The Seminoles currently employ one of the highest paid coaching staffs in the entire country according to the USA Today Coaching Salary database. Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher is the fifth highest paid head coach in college football, and the Seminole assistant coaches have the seventh highest combined salaries.
When you combine Fisher's salary with his assistants, Florida State has the sixth highest paid coaching staff in the country behind just Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State, LSU and Auburn. In state rival Florida (7,398,000) pays their coaching staff over $2 million less than Florida State. It's not surprising that the Seminoles are paying that much for their coaching staff when you consider the program has lost just five games in the last four years. Results get rewarded in college football.
