The Top-5 Players From Week 2 Of The Florida High School State Championships

Here are the Top-5 players from the 5A-8A Florida State Championships.

1. 2016 4-star WR Keith Gavin

Gavin was flat out uncoverable in the first quarter, and Wakulla went away from him. He finished the game with 5 catches for 73 yards and 2 touchdowns. He easily had the best catch of the day on his second touchdown. He was a physical blocker as well. Gavin separated his shoulder on the final drive of the game.

2. 2017 5-star WR Trevon Grimes

Grimes lived up to his 5-star billing this weekend. He only had three catches in the game. but all were highlight reel catches. He really bailed out his quarterback on more than one occasion. He finished the game with 3 catches for 70 yards.

3. 2016 4-star WR Sam Bruce (Miami Commit)

Bruce was lighting in a bottle once again. Everytime he touched the ball he either made a play, or was a shoe string tackle away from making a play. He finished the game with 5 catches for 61 yards and 1 touchdown. He was always in the right place.

4. 2019 RB James Cook

Cook got more carries than in any other game this season, and he made the most of them. He ran for 178 yards on just 15 carries for 3 touchdowns, and got stronger as the game went on. His last carry went for 57 yards and found the end zone. It was easy to see why he has offers from FSU, LSU, and Miami this early in his career.

5. 2017 4-star Stanford Samuels III

Stanford III didn't get much of a chance to show how good he was with Osceola clearly avoiding his side of the field. They didn't have a choice in the fourth quarter, and he made them pay with a 27-yard interception return for a touchdown to ice the game. He finished with 3 tackles in addition to his interception.
