FSU Recruiting: What To Watch January 22

What should Florida State fans watch for this weekend?

Visiting Florida State

Florida State is hosting a big group of visitors this weekend and it will be make or break for a number of prospects.

4-star wide receiver Keith Gavin is coming in for his Florida State official. Gavin is fresh off his Alabama official, and these two schools have long been his top two. Gavin has been to Florida State a number of times since he's from right down the road at Wakulla. Gavin could make a decision right after the visit.

4-star safety and Florida State commit Jamel Cook is expected to come in for an official visit this weekend. Cook has been all over the place in his recruitment for the past month, but getting him on campus is a very good sign.

The Seminoles are also bringing in 3-star athlete Keyshawn "Pie" Young, who is good friends with Cook this weekend. It is unclear if Young is a take at this time, but the Seminoles like his versatility.

4-star defensive tackle Stephon Taylor and his teammate 3-star safety Clifford Chattman will both be visiting. Taylor visited Florida State for a Junior Day back in February. Chattman has come onto the board recently, but has great size at 6-foot-4.

4-star defensive tackle Raekwon Davis is expected to be at Florida State this weekend, but he is also reportedly visiting Alabama. It will be interesting to see where he shows up, but this is a long shot for the Seminoles. They are competing with both instate Mississippi schools and Alabama, and Davis may not even qualify.

Florida State is also bringing in two solid commits in 4-star cornerback Kyle Meyers and 4-star center Baveon Johnson. Both have been very firm to Florida State since committing, and will likely be doing some recruiting for the Seminoles.

Visiting Elsewhere

4-star cornerback Trayvon Mullen is officially visiting LSU this weekend. Mullen has been a FSU/LSU battle for most of the cycle, but an official visit to Clemson last weekend has the Tigers in the mix. Mullen has already taken an official to Florida State. Mullen plans to take an unofficial next weekend, but the destination is up in the air.

5-star defensive end Brian Burns is visiting Florida. Burns is a Florida State, Florida, and Georgia battle, and Florida State will get the last official next weekend. Florida State currently has a small lead, but with two officials left it's still up in the air.

5-star JUCO defensive end Jonathan Kongbo is visiting USC this weekend. Kongbo plans to visit Florida State next weekend with the Seminoles getting the final visit. Alabama asked him to reschedule his visit for next weekend and he refused.

4-star linebacker Dontavious Jackson will take an official to Alabama this weekend. It is his final official visit. Florida State and Texas are currently out front for the talented linebacker, but Alabama is right there.

4-star defensive back Carlos Becker will take an official visit to Ohio State this weekend. He visited Florida State last weekend, and really enjoyed his visit to Tallahassee. The Seminoles are in good position here.

4-star running back and Florida State commit Amir Rasul will be visiting North Carolina this weekend. Rasul visited Alabama last weekend, and will visit Florida State next weekend.

4-star guard Landon Dickerson will be visiting Alabama this weekend. Florida State currently has the edge on Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, and Auburn.

4-star defensive end Terrell Hall will be visiting Alabama this weekend. This looks like it will come down to an Alabama/Maryland battle with the Seminoles sitting on the outside.

4-star offensive tackle Jauan Williams is taking an official to LSU this weekend. Williams is fresh off a visit to Texas A&M that saw the Aggies pull even with the Seminoles.

3-star linebacker Emmett Rice will be visiting Louisville this weekend. Rice is one of Florida State's longest standing commitments.
