Florida State defeated Rhode Island 23-4 on Sunday, and completed the three game sweep to start the season. The Seminoles outscored Rhode Island 50-6 in the three games.
With 23 runs scored it was a really good day at the plate for the Seminoles. The Seminoles sent 16 different players to the plate, and 15 of them came away with at least 1 hit. They finished with 24 hits.
Donovan Petrey led the Seminoles with 3 RBIs, while Sansone, Lueck, Walls, Miller, and Busby all added 2 RBIs apiece. John Sansone hit his second home run of the season. The Seminoles only struck out 4 times all game.
Freshman Cole Sands made his first collegiate start for the Seminoles on Sunday, and looked as good as advertised. He went 5 innings and gave up 1 run, which was not earned, with 6 strikeouts and 1 walk. He gave up just 2 hits.
The Florida State bullpen pitched well outside of Andrew Karp, who was making his first appearance as a Seminole after missing last year due to injury. Closer Tyler Warmoth ended the ninth inning by striking out all three batters he faced.
