Florida State fell to Duke 80-65 in Durham on Thursday night. Florida State managed to hang with the Blue Devils for the first five minutes of the game, but after that they took control. The Seminoles led for just 1:05.
Xavier Rathan-Mayes led the way for the Seminoles with 13 points. Dwayne Bacon added 12 points and 10 rebounds. Devon Bookert also added 10 points. Malik Beasley finished with 9 points as well.
Florida State out shot and out rebounded the Blue Devils, but were still blown out. That's because of the high amount of turnovers the Seminoles committed compared to the low number committed by Duke. Florida State committed 14 turnovers while Duke committed just 5. Florida State shot 50 percent from the field and 35.7 percent from the three point line. The Blue Devils shot just 43.8 percent from the field and 36 percent from three.
The Seminoles are now 6-10 in the ACC and have lost their last five games. It is the first time that Florida State has lost double digit ACC games since the 2004-2005 season.
Florida State will return home to host Notre Dame on Saturday, February 27th at 4 PM. The game will be broadcast on ESPN 2.
