FSU Offense Struggles In 2-1 Loss To College of Charleston

Florida State dropped their first game of the season against College of Charleston.

Florida State dropped their first game of the season against the College of Charleston on Friday night. 

Mike Compton started the game for the Seminoles and went 5.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 7 hits with 6 strikeouts and 2 walks. Alex Byrd came in for one batter and got the Seminoles out of a 6th inning jam. Tyler Holton came in in the 7th inning and cruised through the final three innings. Holton gave up just 1 hit with 2 strikeouts and 1 walk in his three innings of work.

It wasn't a pretty day at the plate for the Seminoles who only mustered three hits. The offense was held without a hit for the first 4.2 innings of the game. The Seminoles were able to get multiple runners in scoring position throughout the game, but were only able to take advantage in the 8th inning. 

Left fielder Jackson Lueck came through with an RBI single to left in the bottom of the 8th inning to close the gap to 2-1. The Seminoles went 1-2-3 in the ninth.

Florida State falls to 3-1 on the season, and will host College of Charleston again on Saturday at 1 PM.
