Florida State took their anger from Friday's loss to College of Charleston out on the Cougars on Saturday with an 8-3 win. Starter Drew Carlton improves to 2-0 on the season.
Carlton gave up 2 runs on 7 hits with 6 strikeouts and 2 walks in 6 innings. He now has a 1.64 ERA over his two starts. Reliever Matthew Kinney took over in the 7th inning and put up two scoreless frames.
Ed Volyes came in to close the game out in the 9th, but was unable to do so. A walk, an error by third baseman John Sansone, and a hit allowed 1 run to score, but Voyles was able to limit the damage and end the game.
The Florida State offense, which managed just 3 hits on Friday, exploded for 8 runs on Saturday. The Seminoles finished with 12 hits for the game. Cal Raleigh, Dylan Busby, and John Sansone all had multi-hit, multi-RBI games. Freshman Jackson Lueck walked three times.
The Seminoles improved to 4-1 on the season, and will to take the series at 1 PM on Sunday.
