Gainesville (Fla.) P.K. Yonge Developmental Research 2018 running back Charles Strong has committed to Florida State Seminoles. Strong visited Florida State for Junior Day on February 21st, and came away very impressed with the program. The Seminoles offered, and he jumped on it.
"I chose Florida State because it's a really good school," Strong said. "The academics are really good. The coaches. They've got good football players over there. They just told me that the wanted to turn it around with a big running back like me."
The Seminoles weren't his first offer. He was offered by hometown Florida when he was in eighth grade, but says there is just a different atmosphere at Florida State.
"It's a different atmosphere," Strong said. "It's very different from Florida. I live in Gainesville so it's all the same to me. Florida State is different. I feel like it's somewhere new. It's a whole different crowd. It's all different people. It's a whole different set of coaches. I didn't want to be close to home. That's why I chose Florida State."
Strong made his commitment to Florida State to head coach Jimbo Fisher.
"He was happy," Strong said. "He was like,' That was easy.' Other people they try to talk you into committing, but I already had my mind made up. He was actually happy. They wanted a big back."
Strong measured in at 6-foot-1, 215. He is Florida State's first commitment in the 2018 class.
