FSU Dominates Rubber Match Against College of Charleston 11-2

Florida State took the series against College of Charleston

Florida State took the final game of the series against the College of College on Sunday 11-2. The Seminoles take the series after losing the Friday game 2-1. 

Starter Cole Sands struggled at times with a very tight strikezone but gave up just 1 run in 5 innings. He walked three batters and struck out 1. He allowed just 4 hits.

Cobi Johnson, Alec Byrd and Chase Haney all pitched scoreless innings in relief. Will Zirzow gave up 1 run in 1 inning of work during the 8th inning.

The Florida State offense got it started early and never let up. The Seminoles scored 3 runs in the opening frame. Hayden Kelly, Steven Wells Jr., and Darren Miller all finished with 2 RBIs each. Lead off hitter Taylor Walls was the only Florida State batter with multiple hits. 

Florida State improves to 5-1 on the season. The Seminoles will play two midweek games this week. They play Jacksonville at 4 PM on Tuesday and Villanova at 4 PM on Wednesday. Florida State hosts St. Johns this weekend.
