FSU Fouls Out In 96-85 Loss To VT

Florida State fails to advance in the ACC tournament with second round loss to Virginia Tech.

Florida State bows out of the ACC Tournament after a 96-85 blowout loss to Virginia Tech. While Florida State didn't play well, the game was taken over by the officials who called an incredible 53 fouls in the game. 

Devon Bookert led the Seminoles once again with 19 points. He also added 4 steals and 4 assists before fouling out. Dwayne Bacon added 13 points and 7 rebounds, and Xavier Rathan-Mayes had 13. Jarquez Smith finished with a double-double with 11 rebounds and 14 points. Malik Beasley added 10 points . 

The Seminoles continue their season long trend of struggling at the free throw line making just 21 of the 35 they took. Virginia Tech, on the other hand, made 30 of 37.

The defense let the Seminoles down as they were slow on their closeouts, and in transition. The Hokies shot 54.7 percent from the field and 47.1 percent from the three point line. Florida State shot just 40.3 percent from the field and 27.6 percent from the three point line. Florida State shot 28 three pointers.

The Seminoles fall to 19-13 on the season and will await their fate with the NIT committee.
