FSU Sweeps GT With 8-3 Win

Florida State completed the sweep of No. 21 Georgia Tech with their win on Sunday.

No. 15 Florida State defeated No. 21 Georgia Tech 8-3, and completed the sweep of the previously undefeated Yellow Jackets. Freshman Cole Sands improves to 3-1 on the season.

Florida State once again got the scoring started early with 2 runs in the first on RBI singles from Cal Raleigh and Quincy Neiporte. The Seminoles added another run in the third on a Dylan Busby RBI triple to make it 3-0.

Georgia Tech got on the board with an RBI single to make it 3-1 in the fourth.

Florida State struck right back with the heart of the order coming through again for the Seminoles. Raleigh added another RBI single, and Neiporte drove a run in with a sacrifice fly to make it 5-1.

Dylan Busby picked up his second RBI of the game with a towering solo home run over the scoreboard in left. John Sansone drove in two more with an RBI double to make it 8-1 Florida State. The 2-3-4 hitters in the Florida State lineup accounted for 6 of the 8 RBIs that the Seminoles produced. Dylan Busby added the other two.

Georgia Tech tried to get back into range with 2 runs in the sixth to make it 8-3 Florida State.

Cole Sands gave up 3 runs on 4 hits and 3 walks with 5 strikeouts. Ed Voyles relieved him in the sixth inning, and pitched two scoreless frames. Cob Johnson relieved him with one out in the eighth and finished the inning. Tyler Warmoth closed the game out in the ninth.

Florida State improves to 12-3, and 3-0 in the ACC. The Seminoles will travel to Gainesville to take on Florida at 7 PM on Tuesday. The game will be broadcast on the SEC network.
