FSU Takes Care Of Davidson 84-74

Florida State took care of business in the first round of the NIT.

Florida State defeated Davidson 84-74 in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament.

Freshmen Malik Beasley and Dwayne Bacon once again led the way for the Seminoles. Bacon lead the team with 23 points, but Beasley was right behind him with 21. Beasley also added 9 rebounds. They were the only Seminoles in double figures. Xavier Rathan-Mayes and Jarquez Smith finished with 9 points each.

Florida State dominated in the paint with 48 points coming in the paint. They also pulled down 44 rebounds compared to just 28 for Davidson.

The Seminoles shot 46.9 percent from the field, but just 23.1 percent from the three point line. Free throw shooting has been an area of concern for the Seminoles this season, but they made 86.4 percent from the line.

Florida State improves to 20-13 on the season. The Seminoles will await the winner of No. 1 seed Valparaiso and No. 8 seed Texas Southern. Florida State will host if Texas Southern pulls the upset.
