Florida State defeated Pittsburgh 10-2, and took the series against the Panthers. Sophomore Drew Carlton improves to 4-0 on the season.
Pittsburgh took their first lead of the series with an RBI single in the third, but Florida State erased that with a quickness in the fifth. John Sansone picked up his 30th RBI of the year with a bases loaded HBP, and Cal Raleigh followed that up with a 3-RBI triple off the center field wall. Gage West knocked Raleigh in with a sacrifice fly to make it 5-1.
Pittsburgh pulled the game back to 5-2 on a Sansone throwing error at third, but the Florida State bats continued to click. Matt Henderson scored on a double steal throwing error in the sixth. Ben DeLuzio picked up an RBI on a single in the seventh. Cal Raleigh came through with an RBI double to left center, and then scored on a wild pitch in the eighth. Taylor Walls finished up the Seminole scoring with an RBI double in the ninth to make it 10-2.
Starter Drew Carlton gave up 2 runs, 1 earned, on 4 hits with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts in 5 innings. Jim Voyles threw four scoreless frames to end the game.
The Seminoles improve to 15-4 overall, and 5-0 in the ACC. They will go for the sweep against Pittsburgh on Sunday at Noon.
