Notre Dame got things started early with a run in the top of the first. The Seminoles looked like they were going to get out of the inning without any damage being done, but a throwing error by second baseman Matt Henderson on the second half of a double play attempt made it 1-0.

Both teams plated runs in the second. Ryan Lidge came through for the Irish with an RBI double, while Quincy Neiporte's RBI groundout got the Seminoles on the board.

Notre Dame extended their lead to 3-1 in the third with an RBI single by Ricky Sanchez.

Haney struggled to find control, and loaded the bases before being relieved by Alec Byrd. Byrd threw a wild pitch that scored a run, and the Irish picked up another on an RBI groundout to make it 7-5.
